When you’ve seen a disaster on the news in the last 50 years, what you may not have seen is the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR) volunteers who were already on the scene—and they remained long after news cameras left town. As the third-largest disaster response team in the nation, this network of state-based volunteers teams does more than just clean up; they bring the healing of Christ to those whose lives have been shattered.
Southern Baptist Disaster Relief has many different areas of response. DR handles anything from clean-up and recovery, to mass feeding and mobile kitchens, childcare, chainsaw teams, and even shower and laundry.
Clay Road Baptist is involved in the shower/laundry response team of the SBC DR. We house and deploy up to three different trailers at any given time to help not only provide showers, but to provide clean clothes and bedding in the aftermath of a disaster. DR is a great way to share the gospel and serve many people in their time of need.
None of this is possible without the sacrificial service of people. SBC DR is solely staffed by volunteers just like you. If you would be interested in serving or learning more about this ministry, please contact:
